Tumblr Tip: Use Google Reader To Search Your Tumblelog

Ever have trouble finding a post you made some time ago?

The simplest effective technique I’ve found so far for searching my tumblelog is to subscribe to it in Google Reader. Since I started using Feedburner for me feed after I’d been tumbling for a while, I instead added the direct feed (http://toldorknown.com/rss) to GR. I then created a label called “__search”, which shows up toward the top of the dropdown list next to the search box, and applied it to the feed.

I had been subscribed to the direct feed prior to switching to FB, so I don’t know if a tumblelog that’s never been subscribed to through GR will be there in its entirety. If you try this technique and can’t find older posts through it, please let me know in the comments.
